Chapter 26 ما جاء في الكهان ونحوهم What is said about fortunetellers and their like روى مسلم ف صحيحه؛ عن بعض أزواج النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «من أتى فسأله عن شيء لم تقبل له صلاة أربعين يومأ». In his Sahih, Muslim records from some of the wives of the Prophet (3) who said, “Whoever comes to a psychic to ask about something, believing in what he says, his salah is not accepted from him for forty وعن أبي هريرة رضي الله cae عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «من أتى كاهناً فصدقه بما فقد كفر بما أنزل على محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم» رواه أبو داود. وللأربعة» والحاكم وقال: صحيح على شرطهماء Abu Hurayrah () reports that the Prophet (3%) said, “Whoever comes to a fortuneteller, believing in what he says, then he has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad (3%).” Recorded by Abu Dawad.” And from the four “Believing in what he says” is not with Muslim, but with Ahmad. ® Aba Dawad’s Shaykh was not sure about the wording. Shaykh Sulayman says, “Recorded also by al-Tirmidhi, and Ibn Majah similar said its chain is weak, and al-Dhahabi ts chain is not established.” Al-Tirmidhi said, “Muhammad (al-Bukhari) graded it weak due to its chain.” In Ghayat al-Maram, after discussing the hadith’s chain as noted by al-Mundhini, al-Albani says, “The hadith is It has been transmitted from Abu Hurayrah via three routes which I have shown in al-Irwa’ no. 2006.” He also included it in Sahih al-Jami , and Sahih Sunan Al-Tirmidhi. 145
